Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of the House of Manna is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Manna family members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as prepping the hospitality table with donuts and coffee, to preparing the church bulletins.

Mission Outreach

The House of Manna is thrilled to be part of the spread of God’s kingdom around the world. We are actively prepping our teams to send to Africa, London & Pakistan.  We are in the process of connecting with other ministries overseas to send teams to help support the local ministries in these parts of the world. We continue to support with prayer and financial contributions to call of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to reach all nations. We encourage all of our people to respond to God’s call for laborers, whether it means that they move to a foreign country or live and minister in our own community.

Music & Drama

God-honoring worship is something we strive for. Many church members get involved in our music and drama ministry. Some play their instruments. Some are vocalists. Others are involved in the choir. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of  The House of Manna, using their talents and gifts to glorify God.

Porters

The porters team fills an important role. They are involved in directing attendees to their seats, ensuring the safety of the building during services, guiding traffic, helping visitors, answering questions, providing direction, unlocking doors, locking doors, and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. The team is a servant-hearted group of men and women whose ministry is integral to kingdom life.

Media & Technology

Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of The House of Manna. In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes. All of our weekly sermons are uploaded to our website in video and audio formats. We also maintain an active Facebook and Twitter feed for additional church communication.

Marriage Counseling

Marriages can be difficult to maintain. Misunderstanding, confusion, resentment, and anger can flare up in any marriage. Team minister couples  serve other families as marriage counselors. Their role in listening, understanding, helping, and encouraging struggling couples has, by God’s grace, saved marriages, and repaired relationships. Couples have found fresh hope and new joy in a warm and fulfilling relationship with their spouse.

Prayer Warriors

Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. The House of Manna is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. Each Sunday, during the morning service, a team of warriors are praying for the ministry of the Word. Throughout the week, the Prayer Warriors team, pray for their pastor, a list of church members, any special requests, and missionary prayer needs. Each Wednesday, the church comes together for a special time of prayer, Bible study and periodic soakings.

Children’s Church

In order to give our children the best Bible teaching possible service in conjunction with the main service. This special time gives kids more opportunity for interaction and learning in a context and manner that may be better suited to their age and learning styles. Our friendly children’s church volunteers have an endless stream of creativity–ranging from puppet shows, to games, to object lessons.

Care Ministry

The passion, mandate and vision of H.O.M. is to demonstrate the loving care of our Savior by ministering to those in need of comfort, care and support. An important aspect of H.O.M. is equipping and encouraging our entire church body to be involved in providing prayer, love and practical acts of caring for one another.  Care Ministry teams will provide meals for family members who are grieving a loss of a loved one, hospital visitations for prayer and any family needs such as; cleaning, cooking hot meals for family members while a loved one is ill or in the hospital.  If you are in need of help or would like to serve, please contact us. 210.267.5711.

Hospitality Ministry

Are you a hospitable person? What about with people you do not like? You may not have to invite them into your home, but how do you treat them? How do you treat people at church? Really, how do you? Most people in any given church would say they are not treated well as far as feeling welcomed or connected! Yes, our church is different, and perhaps much better than others, but I believe we can be even better for our Lord’s glory!

One of the most important calls that Christ gives His church is to be welcoming to people. We are His ambassadors, so, Jesus uses us to be His welcoming arms to draw people from the outside into His presence! He is the Seeker; we are the ones He seeks, and sometimes we are the ones He uses to seek others. It is God’s desire that all of His children will be saved, and, yet, few will accept His grace. It is the role of the Holy Spirit to save people, and we are the instruments through which He works. So, we must be a church who welcomes not only Believers, but also those who may never before in their lives have been inside of a church. This ministry of Hospitality has the role of being His ambassador.
